MOLconfig

Features

  • MOLconfig is designed as a convenient alternative to the default MIDIoverLAN configuration panel:
    • View your entire MIDIoverLAN 3 configuration in a single table.
    • Apply changes to any MIDIoverLAN settings across multiple ports. (For example, enable or disable "Send Immediately" for several or all of your ports with one click.)
    • Export/backup your MIDIoverLAN settings to a file.
  • DESIGNED FOR MIDIoverLAN CP 3 (64 port version) - not tested with other editions.

MOL Config Editor 1.0.15 alpha - Mac OSX (UB)

Use this utility at your own risk. I do not provide support for it. Its core functionality has been tested but I cannot guarantee it is bug-free.

View most settings at a glance:

  • Port Name
  • Source Computer Name & Port
  • Target Computer Name & Port
  • Sent Immediately switch
  • Export your changes to a .REG file (that you can externally import into the to registry)

What is not yet working/implemented:

  • Cannot enable or disable MOL ports (input, output, or loopbacks)
  • No documentation yet

Brief Tips/Documentation

To change a parameter for multiple ports at once:

  • Select multiple ports in the far left-hand column of port numbers:
  • You can click and drag to select a contiguous series of ports.
  • Hold [CTRL] and then click on as many additional ports as you need.
  • When selecting multiple ports, they don't have to all be sequential. You can skip ports by only clicking on the ones you want by holding the [CTRL] key (ie: ports 11-15, 21, 41-58, and 88 - all at once!)
  • As well, to de-select any ports, simply hold the [CTRL] key and click on them again.
  • Once you have done this, the "Edit All Selected" bar at the bottom of the window will turn blue. By entering data in any of the parameters in the blue bar, that data will be applied to all of the selected ports.

Support

  • Program is freeware. As such, use it at your own risk, as the author cannot be responsible for problems that may arise. Always backup your data and registry before modifying the registry. All reasonable precautions have been taken to debug and assess any potential problems.
  • I can't offer personal support for this program, but feel free to use the contact form to submit feature requests or comments. I will start a FAQ section on this page with pertinent information on features and troubleshooting if needs be.
  • Please do not modify and redistribute. Please don't redistribute the zip file, instead please link to this web page.
  • Requires the MSVB6 Runtimes to be installed. (If you are running XP, they are likely already installed on your system.)
  • No version for Mac OS yet, sorry. I may pursue an OS X port in the future.

Planned Features For Future Releases

  • Ability to enable and disable MIDI IN and MIDI OUT
  • Ability to change MIDI port names (to something other than "MolCp3Port 11"... etc.)
  • Saving directly to the registry
  • Choosing a path other than the application folder for saving the .reg file
  • Settings import from a .reg file
  • Compatibility with other versions and editions of MOL.
  • Undo function.
  • "Snapshot" feature that lets you keep multiple MOL configurations and switch between them with one click.
  • Mask-based batch rename tool. (For example, renaming multiple ports at once based on a user-defined mask, such as "My Network Port %s" where %s would be substituted with the port number or a sequential set of numbers)
  • Tooltips and cleaner UI.
